Cloud Compute

Introduction to Cloud Computing

What is cloud computing?

Cloud computing is a term for the use of a remote systems to perform computing or data services.

The cloud is a metaphor for the Internet, and so cloud computing means using the Internet as a platform. The term is often used to refer to services that are outsourced (A.K.A. public cloud), as opposed to using a local server or personal computer (A.K.A. private cloud).

The public cloud is an on-demand service provided by third-party service providers. The top 3 providers are Amazon AWSMicrosoft Azure, and Google Cloud.

Each cloud provider allows you to develop and host your apps on their shared resources and pay only for what you use. Instead of purchasing servers and software outright, which can be expensive and inflexible, organizations rent the services and components they need as needed from the cloud provider.
