Today I got this email and it reminded me that I met with the owner of Cloud.com at VMWorld last year and asked him who would eventually own Cloud.com and CloudStack, I should have known since at the time XenSource was one of the only supported hypervisors.
Dear Joe,
Yesterday Cloud.com reached an important milestone in our company. We announced that we have been acquired by Citrix, a leading provider of virtualization and cloud computing solutions that enable companies to deliver IT as an on-demand service.
We are thrilled as this is exciting news for Cloud.com and our customers. Not only do we intend to continue to invest in and support our products, but starting today, Citrix intends to integrate our products into its current portfolio of market leading, next-generation cloud infrastructure technologies. This combined offering will bring you the most comprehensive enterprise cloud technologies that enables you to build and connect private, public and hybrid cloud infrastructures with maximum flexibility, security, and scalability – that are open and cost-efficient.
Citrix Systems was born from the idea of unlocking applications from data centers and employees from the office – creating new ways for people and IT to work. Today, this is the promise of cloud computing, and Citrix is at the epicenter.
